Tips for parking in Amsterdam? Keep this in mind

Especially in big cities, it is often difficult to find a parking spot. Did you know that quite a few cities have a day zone? Which means that you cannot pay by the hour or minute, but only for a large part of the day. Such a parking ticket can quickly become quite prohibitive and is certainly not attractive for parking. Day zones were established by municipalities to give residents a better chance of finding a parking spot.

What to do. Fortunately, in many cases you can find parking garages where you can park more cheaply. These are often located slightly outside the heart of the city, but within walking distance. A little walk pays off!

The Netherlands has a lot to offer, besides our capital, there are plenty of places you can easily visit by car. For example, visit the oldest city in the Netherlands, Nijmegen! Nijmegen is a city located in the east of the Netherlands. It is known for its bustling center with many cafes, bars and restaurants. The oldest city in the Netherlands has many beautiful monumental buildings that are definitely worth a visit. The highlights are the Grand Market, the Kruittoren tower and the Waag building.

Or go for Brabantse coziness in Den Bosch. Den Bosch has an old, historic city center with the St. John's Cathedral as its main attraction. If you visit this city, a boat trip on the Binnendieze is definitely a must.

The cheese market in Alkmaar is also a must-see. Alkmaar has a beautiful center full of monuments, canals, stores and museums. Every spring/summer on Fridays there is the cheese market for which Alkmaar is famous. Had enough of city life for a while? Within fifteen minutes you can reach the beach at Egmond aan zee from the center of Alkmaar.
