How to get around in Amsterdam
Parking, Especially in the bigger cities, can be troublesome. Did you know? – Many cities in the Netherlands use day zones, which means that you cannot park per minute or hour, but you must pay for a portion of the day. This type of parking can cost you a considerable sum and is meant to discourage you. These day zones are actually intended to give the residents a better chance at finding a parking spot.
What to do? Luckily, in most cases, there are parking garages that are more affordable. These are often located just outside of the city centre but at walking distance. This short walk will really pay off!
Unlimited mileage means going anywhere
The Netherlands has a lot to offer, besides our capital there are plenty of places that you can easily visit by car.
For example, visit the oldest city in the Netherlands, Nijmegen! Nijmegen is a city located in the east of the Netherlands. She is known for her bustling center with many cafes, bars and restaurants. The oldest city in the Netherlands has many beautiful monumental buildings that are certainly worth a visit. The highlights are the Grote Markt, the Kruittoren and the Waaggebouw.
Or go for Brabant cosiness in Den Bosch. Den Bosch has an old, historic city center with the Sint-Jans Cathedral as its main attraction. If you visit this city, a boat trip on the Binnendieze is definitely recommended.
The cheese market in Alkmaar is also a must-see. Alkmaar has a beautiful center full of monuments, canals, shops and museums. Every spring / summer on Friday there is the cheese market for which Alkmaar is known. Have you had enough of city life? Within fifteen minutes you are from the center of Alkmaar on the beach at Egmond aan Zee.
